Lo stupore come stato d’animo della conoscenza esperienziale

“Proprio per il fatto che siamo da parte a parte rapporto al mondo, per noi la sola maniera di rendercene conto è di sospendere questo movimento, di negargli la nostra complicità … o ancora di metterlo fuori gioco. Non perché si rinunci alle certezze del senso comune e dell’atteggiamento naturale … ma perché, appunto come presupposti di ogni pensiero, esse sono ‘ovvie’, passano inosservate, e perché, per risvegliarle e farle apparire, dobbiamo astenercene per un istante. La migliore formula della riduzione è certo quella che forniva Eugen Fink, l’assistente di Husserl, quando parlava di uno ‘stupore’ di fronte al mondo”.

Riflessione: Ricondursi allo stupore. Implica per il terapista aver sospeso il velo di ovvietà che si interpone fra sé e mondo (e in particolare questo corpo del paziente). Il mondo (e questo corpo) che in tal modo mi si espone al di fuori delle mie prospettive e categorie interpretative consuete si rivela come nuovo e sfuggente (trascendente), e nel mio stupore colgo anche la mia esposizione, e un attimo di disorientamento tipico del principiante, cioè di chi sta iniziando una esperienza nuova e carica di imprevisti. Ma è necessario non concepire questo stupore del nuovo come una mancanza di senso (che mi farebbe tornare a cercare rifugio in quell’ovvio appena sospeso), bensì considerarlo e viverlo come strategia affettivo-cognitiva capace di rilevare nuove qualità espressive e tendenze di senso a partire dai fenomeni stessi dell’esperienza inter-corporea.
Lo stato d’animo dello stupore alimenta quindi i seguenti atti di esperienza: sospendere l’ovvietà e il richiamo del ri-saputo, sostenere la tensione del nuovo, disporsi verso il senso che si annuncia e che chiede di essere seguito in quanto tendenza allo stato nascente, ed esplorare le possibilità di manifestazione e cambiamento proprie dell’esperienza terapeutica attuale. Con la messa in gioco di questi atti si tesse la trama compositiva delle dinamiche dei gesti terapeutici capaci di generare nuovo senso: percettivo, affettivo, etico, e perché no anche clinico, essendo l’esperienza di tali gesti capace di includere e rinnovare anche quel sapere già sospeso dalla pretesa di una propria centralità di senso, ma che contribuisce a modo suo al senso complessivo.
Questa mia riflessione nasce a partire da un contributo di Chiara (Chiara – contributo seminario novembre) su un laboratorio dell’ultimo seminario del 2012. Il tema della sorpresa sperimentato nel laboratorio, e descritto succintamente nella parte centrale del suo testo, rivela innanzitutto la struttura temporale fondamentale dell’evento-sorpresa, dove riconosciamo due fasi.

La prima fase è quella del campo di esperienza in cui ci troviamo situati con un senso di familiarità, essendo costituito da fenomeni dotati di qualità estetiche ben riconoscibili. Verso tale forma di esperienza la coscienza corporea può orientarsi fiduciosamente, descrivere sensibilmente i fenomeni e delinearne la trama di relazioni, come descritto nel testo di Chiara: “arriva il contatto, è l’incontro con qualcuno, un incontro soffice e leggero, la parte del mio corpo dove mi sento in contatto è la mia coscia destra e credo sia in contatto con l’avambraccio dell’altro“. Trasferendoci nella situazione terapeutica, questa facoltà del situarsi nel tessuto fenomenico di un campo di esperienza familiare è fondamentale perché permette di rilevare (nel senso letterale di porre in rilievo) e di accettare (cioè dare un atto di assenso e fare posto) la presenza dell’altro come costitutiva dell’esperienza terapeutica in corso.

Questa prima fase dedicata al predisporsi di una familiarità condivisa, in cui l’altro si annuncia ed è accolto come esperienza possibile e sensibile per me, è la prima fase dell’incontro inteso come reciproco farsi incontro intenzionale. Ed è sul terreno preliminare e preparatorio di questa fase che è possibile fare scaturire la seconda fase, quella che rende l’incontro un’esperienza compiuta. Nella parte del testo di Chiara che fa seguito alla parte già citata, leggiamo: ” ... iniziamo a esplorare, il mio compagno inizia a muoversi e … sorpresa! Non inizia a muoversi in quella che io avvertivo come zona di contatto, inizia a muovere la sua schiena attorno alla mia spalla“. Possiamo chiamare questa fase con il nome pronunciato da Chiara, la “sorpresa” come carattere di manifestazione di un fenomeno, cui fa riscontro lo stato affettivo-cognitivo di “stupore” del soggetto. Volendo scavare al fondo, alla radice di questa esperienza di sorpresa e stupore, troviamo qui esplicitata la “Differenza” essenziale dell’altro come tema costitutivo dell’incontro. C’è vero incontro quando l’altro non solo viene accolto nel mio campo sensibile, ma manifesta anche la sua sostanziale differenza da me. Il richiamo qui è alla concezione di Lévinas (in “Totalità e Infinito”) sul Volto dell’altro, quale profilo irriducibile al tentativo di assimilazione al Medesimo. L’aspetto originale della differenza che si manifesta nell’esperienza descritta da Chiara, e che emana interessanti suggestioni verso l’ambito terapeutico, è che pur nel contatto corporeo reciproco e unitario, la struttura e il centro focale dell’appoggio vissuto dall’altro è differente dal mio: sullo stesso contatto fisico dei corpi egli cioè instaura una prospettiva e quindi una possibilità di azione differente dalle mie, e quindi si muove in un modo che mi sorprende, che tradisce le mie attese e mi getta proditoriamente in una prospettiva di esperienza imprevista. Sono dis-posto ad accogliere anche questa differenza? A scoprire ciò che non cercavo? A rappresentarla all’altro come possibilità di percorso originale da condividere? A seguirla come suggerimento terapeutico?

IL CASO DI VANDA.

Vanda ha avuto un ictus cerebrale poco più di un anno fa che le ha lasciato una “pesante” emiplegia destra e una quasi completa afasia, la comprensione sembra però essere buona. Ha sviluppato un forte ipertono sia all’arto superiore che all’arto inferiore. Quest’ultimo si presenta atteggiato in flessione e non sono presenti movimenti attivi né al braccio né alla gamba. Vanda ha un dorso curvo, le spalle sono chiuse, il capo sempre atteggiato in flessione quando è seduta; ha comunque recuperato un discreto controllo del tronco e nella sua immobilità riesce a mantenere la posizione seduta senza aiuto. I passaggi posturali sono possibili con l’aiuto di una sola persona, riesce a mantenere la posizione eretta con appoggio anteriore di una persona, non appoggiando del tutto a terra la gamba dx e non riuscendo a a raddrizzare il tronco e a crescere.
Vanda è soprattutto una donna triste, il suo corpo è triste, il suo sguardo è triste.
La seguo a domicilio, il problema principale che il marito mi ha riportato all’inizio del ciclo di terapia è il dolore che Vanda lamenta molto spesso sia alla gamba che al braccio dx, dolore per il quale ricorre all’utilizzo di farmaci.

Nelle prime sedute mi sono dedicata a muovere con delicatezza la gamba, il braccio e la mano di Vanda con l’obiettivo di rilassare un po’ il suo corpo, ben consapevole dell’inefficacia a lungo termine di una semplice mobilizzazione di arti plegici, come obiettivo mi ero posta quello di farle accettare un po’ di più la sua parte destra, farle sentire che anche se lei non ci riusciva, questa parte del suo corpo poteva essere aiutata a muoversi senza sentire dolore.

Dopo qualche incontro, seduta sul lato destro del letto di Vanda, attenta a mobilizzare con cura il suo corpo, a sentire il suo respiro e a percepire ogni minimo accenno di tensione, riuscendo a ottenere un oggettivo rilassamento dei suoi arti ho continuato a sentire che Vanda era da un’altra parte, il suo sguardo era assente e molto triste. Ho sentito di dover cambiare ed ho cambiato lato! Perché continuare e ostinarsi a mobilizzare la parte plegica di una persona (anche se sappiamo essere utile per impedire retrazioni muscolari etc… ) se sentiamo che questo non porta da nessuna parte! Mi sono messa dalla parte sinistra del letto di Vanda e abbiamo iniziato a fare banali esercizi di mobilizzazione sia per la gamba sia per il braccio, che ho scoperto essere molto rigidi nei movimenti, ma la scoperta più interessante è stato il sorriso di Vanda, come se in quel momento ci fossimo trovate e capite riguardo alla strada da percorrere assieme.

Rivedo oggi Vanda: facciamo degli esercizi con la gamba e il braccio sinistro, esercizi teoricamente facili che risultano difficili soprattutto se a Vanda viene chiesto un ritmo nel movimento. Ci mettiamo poi sedute a bordo letto in una posizione seduta alta, cerco di dare dei suggerimenti di movimento: oscillazioni antero-posteriori, rotazione delle spalle, tentativi di raddrizzamento del tronco e del capo. Le mie mani preferiscono stare sulla parte sinistra del suo corpo e suggeriscono un ritmo. Non è facile, non troviamo un esercizio da sviluppare e continuiamo a cambiare, alla ricerca …. ma sento il respiro di Vanda, percepisco i suoi nuovi tentativi di muovere il corpo, e quando la aiuto a risedersi sulla sua carrozzina il suo tronco è un po’ meno chiuso e respira un po’ di più.
